I do not know if you can call it a sequel since it was released very shortly after Dune and in a totally different genre: real-time strategy. Indeed, it is the first of its kind to my knowledge and pave the way for many successful titles ( Command & Conquer series for example).

The story takes two lines: three houses compete for control over the planet and its precious spice: the Harkkonens, the Atreides and the Ordos, a house of sly merchants. I do not understand its purpose. The Ordos do not appear in the novel and they contribute almost nothing to the game (except 2 or 3 pathetic units).

After choosing your side, you must build and maintain a military base (collect resources, ensure the supply of energy, repair damaged buildings . . .) and at the same time, defend it, before conducting the final assault against the your enemy with your newly trained troops.

It may seem repetitive but the concept is incredibly catchy (and innovative at the time). Both the difficulty and the number of available units increase gradually so that you fall in a new challenge with every mission.
