North & South is a kind of humor wargame based on the comic-book The Blue Tunics (for the ignorant, this happens during the Civil War). At first, you move your troops on the map. If two armies are in a same area, they clash. You can also attack the supply trains or enemy strongholds, which results in rather nice mini-games but completely unplayable if you ask me.
The most amusing are the battle phases in a "cartoon" atmosphere where you control in real time the different groups of units (artillery, cavalry and infantry), each with a specific mode of travel (artillery moves laterally and shoot at long range, the cavalry is faster but only attack at close combat (never going backward), the infantry is highly mobile but slower). An unexpected event will sometimes bring a little spice to the game (storms, Indian raids).
It can be played in 2-player, interest is then multiplied.
