An IT-style Boulderdash with printed circuits, computer disks and other gadgets. Its gameplay has been improved in comparison to Emerald Mine, you find new features such as one-way passages, remote bombs and the presence of gravity in some levels. Animation is also smoother.

I don't like this game for several reasons:

  • Graphically, it's ugly. I don't ask for technical effects of the third millennium, but even the choice of colors scrapes my eyes.

  • The single and only ingame-tune, nice as it is, is played in loop throughout the game and there is no other sound effect what so ever (or I didn't find the option), it's driving you crazy after a few minutes.

  • Too many puzzles, not enough action for my taste (hey Eat Mine?).

However, Supaplex has become very popular thanks to its level editors, especially in its DOS version (PC). A huge community has formed around this game and you can find, even today, thousands of levels created by players.

Supaplex does not seem to work on WinUAE (if you see how I would be happy to know). I advise you to use the WinFellow emulator and to configure it as shown here: The Supaplex Homepage. You'll also find the DOS version and explanations to make it work.
