Turrican 3 was developed for the Sega Genesis (Mega Turrican, 1994). It was also released on the Supernes (Super Turrican, 1993) with different levels.
Personally, I prefer the Genesis version. On the Amiga, music sounds better but something is wrong with the colors. . . . Still, fans of the series have been rather disappointed by the turn taken in this third installment, decidedly arcade, with "japanisant" graphics, more action, less exploration, shorter levels, more linear. In my opinion, this is not a bad news. The problem is that they removed the multi-directional gun which was the hallmark of a Turrican game and replaced it with a grappling hook with quite a laborious handling.
Compared to the previous game, thisone is easier ("easy mode" is superfluous, especially since it does not provide access to the last levels), both gameplay and look are different, somewhat less polished. I find it ugly, but it's debatable. The game remains largely at par with other titles released in those years . . . on console.
