You play a scientist who, during an experiment gone wrong, finds himself thrown into another dimension, populated by hungry monsters. . . .
After a sumptuous animated introduction, you get materialized in the bottom of a lake. No time for sightseeing because immediately a thousand dangers fall on you: carnivorous plants, wild animal, scabby aliens. . . .
Another World appears as a succession of events mixing reflection and speed. If you fail, you die and start over from the last checkpoint. The game is short and linear but rhythmic enough for not getting tired.
Another World's main virtue, is its ambiance, its cold science-fiction scenery and omnipresent animations. The polygon based graphics appear a little dated but keep the advantage of using relatively little space (the game fits on two disks). Note that the realism of certain scenes was made possible with a technique called "rotoscoping", by filming a real actor, as in Prince of Persia.
