The sequel to Barbarian is much more playable (joystick control) and more violent. The aim is to explore dungeons while satiating your primitive impulses, ie hitting everything that moves. To do that, you have a dozen weapons from the simple dagger to the heavy double-bladed axe. Afterwards, feel free to rob honest people (and alert the city guards). The money you get will provide you a good time at the Tavern, or give you the possibility to renew your arsenal, because smashing skulls wears out your weapons and they eventually break. Yes, it's hard to be a barbarian.
