With a few exceptions, the Amiga does not shine by its pure platformer games like Mario or Sonic. It is a genre that requires perfect control of our character. Commands must be simple and responsive. How can a joystick with one button competes with a game console paddle?
James Pond II succeeded. Do not ask me how. The gold fish can grow indefinitely and hang to the ceiling to reach higher ground. He jumps, he runs, he flies, always in top speed and with unexpected ease.
The "cartoon" graphics are particularly varied. Moreover, the childish style hides a diabolical level design! Impossible to get bored!
Finally, as in all good platformer games, bonuses are numerous, there are many secret rooms and vehicles of all kinds. Who asked for a flying bathtub?
Just one thing I do not understand. The game takes hours to complete and no backup? Not even a password to return later. Everything must be finished in a draft?
Fortunately, the emulator resolves this issue. . . .
