Katakis is an improved clone of R-Type without much originality. However, this was one of my first "shoot'em ups" and I met with the original game only much later! Shooter enthusiasts will appreciate.

R-Type is an arcade based game. Activision paid property rights to ensure the port on the computer butKatakis was released first, therefore they have requested and obtained its withdrawal from sale. Factor 5 has still been chosen to develop R-Type on Amiga. Katakis was rereleased in 1989 under a new name: Denaris.

Another story? Well, then you should know that Katakis was first released for the C64 in a quite different version. I have not tried it yet but it is considered by players as superior to the Amiga version. Shttt!
