Dr. Wily stole a time-travel machine, Mega Man goes after him. Do not look for any plot-reference in the game, the story is told in ten lines in the manual, that's it.
Now, Mega Man knows how to slide and he's assisted by Rush under 3 forms: "coil" to jump higher, "jet" to fly and "marine" to travel under water (as in Nes). The new boss, Quint, is equipped with a jackhammer (Sakugarne)!
