A battle is raging in space between two cyber-creatures enshrouded with light. One is blue, the other purple. In a final assault, they collide head-on. The latter seems to have been killed by the impact because the purple aura that surrounded him has extinguished, then both of them crash on Earth . . .
At the same time in the city, Mega Man and Bass are engaged in their usual bickering when Roll stops by suddenly. She's carrying a message from Dr. Light to Mega Man, who asks him to go on a deserted island as soon as possible. A strange meteor crashed there and a disturbing source of energy was detected.
But Mega Man arrives too late. He sees Wily flee, taking with him a precious alien relic who is none other than the purple robot. In the crater lies the second creature, unconscious. . . .

Megaman 8 is the first installment on Playstation, the game is interspersed with beautiful anime sequences. Of course we meet up with Bass and Treble, the 8 eternal master robots, Roll, Rush and other creations of Light. Mega Man is assisted by Duo, an alien robot determined to annihilate the "evil energy" mysteriously come appeared on Earth.
Throughout the game, we can collect "bolts" that Auto and Roll will be able to turn into items.
