At first everything was going well. Dr. Light (or Dr. Right depending on the version) created with the help of his assistant, Dr. Wily, 8 robots (Rock, Roll, Cut Man, Guts Man, Elec Man, Ice Man, Fire Man, Bomb Man) to facilitate human labor. But one day, Wily reprogrammed them to conquer the world . . . Fortunately, Rock & Roll had remained faithful to the good Doctor Light. So Rock, voluntarily, became a fighting robot: Mega Man (aka Rockman) was born! He then defeated every master robots and dragged the mad scientist before justice. . . .
These are the first adventures of the "Blue Bomber". The playability is limited to jumping, shooting and climbing ladders but being able to use the weapons of defeated foes brings a strategic dimension, compared to traditional platformer games (ie: the Ice Man's "Ice Slasher" immobilizes an opponent, while Guts Man's "Super Arm" gives the ability to throw some objects). Note that this is the only episode in which points are awarded by collecting bonuses or eliminating enemies. Another oddity: Mega Man contains only 6 master robots (8 in all its sequels).
Suggested order:
Bomb Man > Guts Man > Cut Man > Elec Man > Ice Man > Fire Man
