King, the latest of Wily's creations has gone berserk! He stole the plans of former master robots to raise an army and conquer the world.
Determined to prove to his creator that no robot is stronger than him, Bass puts aside his rivalry with Mega Man to fight King. . . .

Mega Man returns on Supernes for his 9th adventures and he's not alone! You can control either Mega Man or Bass (he's become a good guy), each with unique and complementary skills (Mega Man knows how to slide and charge his weapon while Bass can jump twice as high and shoot in every directions).
The bolt system introduced in Mega Man 8 remains, but this time they are obtained by destroying enemies. Therefore there are much more small bolts to collect to afford new items.
Additionally, a new challenge extends the game lifespan: find the hidden 100 CDs, each of them reveals a card related to one character from the saga.
They managed to make the classic series has exactly 100 characters. This explains why we find only 6 new robots masters, plus two former bosses from Mega Man 8 (Tengu Man and Astro Man).
