If I had to summarize in two words, I would say... forty two. That was easy.

Arthur Dent could be regarded as a typical English man. He is discreet, he drinks tea, he does not bother anyone. Until a series of events turns his life upside down. . . .

It all begins one morning when a bulldozer ring at his door. His house was found on the path of a highway under construction. "You had ample time to challenge the decision." He was told. "The papers were displayed in the next town." True, deep in a cave without light . . . well.

Arrives Ford Prefect, an old friend of Arthur. He finds him lying in front of the bulldozer and, not without difficulty, persuades him to take a drink with him at the pub, he has bad news to tell him.

Two actually. The first is that Ford was not born on Earth. He is a journalist for a galactic tour guide who got stuck there by chance. The second? He just learned that Vogons have decided to build a galactic highway. And guess what planet must be demolished to make way for it?
Anyway, it's not like you had not been warned. The papers were displayed on Alpha Centauri for some time, and you did not even come to look at them. . . .

And that's how Arthur and Ford aboard the Vogon ship. Earth last survivor will experience all sorts of adventures, meet crazy characters, like the president of the galaxy, a depressed robot, his daughter from the future or the past, I do not remember. . . .

A number of major metaphysical questions are answered in these books, which are adaptations of a radio series. They have even made into a film whose story was changed a lot.

Zaphod, my hero!
