A series of books "where you are the hero" that I liked when I was little. In fact, all my pocket money was spent there.
Recently, I read one, it disappointed me. It is a book to play, not a book to read. Today, with interactive games, the age of gamebooks is over.

It is the story of Lone Wolf, last representative of Kai, an order of warrior monks dedicated to the protection of the kingdom of Sommerland against the masters of darkness. . . .
Your monastery has just been attacked by monsters. All your colleagues have been murdered and you must hurry to warn the king, otherwise the kingdom will be invaded. . . .

So much for the story of the first book. It does not go very far but the atmosphere is there. Each volume consists of 350 short chapters. You start with Chapter 1 and you will be sent, according to the decision that you want to take to another chapter, then another, in disorder. It makes me think that the binding of these books was not terrible and often, pages fell off. . . .

What was most interesting was the customization of the hero before the begining of the adventure. You could choose a number of skills (hunting, weapon masterery, intuition, telekinesis . . .), prepare your equipment, etc. And in each new volume, you could take your hero as you left him with his gear and weapons. Regular readers got improved talents compared to lambda hillbilly who took the train on the run.

Most of the books have been posted in their original versions and are available at:
