A port of a 1987 Commodore 64 title, this one’s a spin on the sports event genre centred around those quintessential surfer/skater dudes—complete with a dash of what some might call beach-party vibes.
The line-up includes: half-pipe, footbag, surfing, roller skating, BMX, frisbee throwing, California Dreamin’, Surfin’ USA, Coca-Cola, Hollywood Chewing Gum, Pamela Anderson.
The game is fun, particularly in multiplayer, though the loading times are maddening, and the controls are anything but intuitive. The manual might help … or you could just watch this handy little let’s play to learn how to crush those high scores. Thanks, YouTube.
California Games 2 would later release in 1990 on PC and 1992 on Amiga.
