In 1995, the legendary Doom had been out on PC for just over a year, and Amiga users (the few left) were eagerly awaiting the impossible task of getting a developer to create a similar 3D game on our venerable machines.
Sensing the opportunity to be the first to produce something that might vaguely resemble, at least on the back of the box, the illustrious model, the guys at Apache quickly churned out this horrendous creation that doesn’t even deserve the term “counterfeit”.
It’s Pac-Man with guns … and enemies that don’t move. You wander through uniform corridors in a choppy manner, much like the role-playing games such as Dungeon Master. The game screen is split in two, even in single-player mode (I wonder why they didn’t put the map in the unused part). No lateral movement, no floor or ceiling textures, no imagination or variety in the level design—need I say more!
