The tinies are mischievous little furballs who, after a failed attempt to invade Earth, return to “Sklumph”, their home planet, only to discover that their good king has been overthrown by another tiny—who’s even more mischievous. A rescue mission is in order…

This game vaguely resembles Morph and The Lost Vikings, in the sense that you have different complementary abilities (either by transforming or controlling multiple characters) that need to be used at the right moment and in the right situation to overcome obstacles.

Here, you have four possible forms, distinguishable by the colour of your gremlin.
Yellow: throws fireballs (and is immune to fire too). Red: digs tunnels with its teeth. Green: fancies itself as Spiderman with its rope and grappling hook, and can also pull certain blocks to clear a path. Blue: swims underwater and makes bubbles.

The controls suffer from a rather annoying inertia. It’s incredibly frustrating to see yourself bounce off a wall and fall into the water, or worse, into spikes. On top of that, to reach a high platform, you always need to jump twice, the little creature needing a running start.

You do eventually get used to these handling issues. After all, the atmosphere is pleasant, and the levels are well-designed and varied.

I’d recommend emulating the CD32 version (1994) to avoid having to juggle five (virtual) floppy disks.

Fury of the Furries was later “recycled” on PC, Macintosh, and Game Boy under the title Pac in Time (1995), replacing the mischievous extraterrestrials with Pac-Man. The Super Nintendo version of the same game, however, offers entirely new levels.
