I wonder who’s going to read this one… Oh, are you lost?
Let me introduce you to Mad Gadget, an obscure cartoon character from the ’90s, published in the Young Telegraph, a supplement to the The Daily Telegraph newspaper aimed at children.
This little genius, somewhere between Dennis the Menace and Data from The Goonies, invented a time machine. He’s currently stuck in the prehistoric era. You’re going to help him collect fuel to get back home…
It’s a game for younger players that mixes platforming and quizzes. The goal is to find five “bouncing objects” that will ask you a multiple-choice question (in English). Answer correctly five times and you’ll free a crystal, which will fuel your machine and transport you to a new time period.
In each of the 10 levels, a different gadget will help you reach an inaccessible spot or defeat a boss. Press “U” to use it.
This relatively manageable and colourful title should have easily captivated the young audience. Just remember to turn off the sound. The keys for toggling between music and sound effects (“F7/F8”) don’t seem to work on the Amiga.
