Fancy a different kind of game? How about working in a factory at night?
Exciting, right? A toy factory, I should clarify, making Star Wars figurines (among other intellectual properties from Lucasfilm’s games).

Before each shift, you’ll pop into the boss’s office so he can assign your production goals, which you’ll have to meet within the given timeframe if you want to keep your job. Unfortunately, the machinery’s not on your side, and you’ll constantly need to monitor the assembly line. A wrench turn here, a kick there. You’re also tasked with eliminating pests (rodents, bailiffs…). It’s a bit tricky at first, but if you leave the game alone for five minutes, you’ll catch a quick demo…

Find it tough? Well, brace yourself, because the gigantic machine gets more complex with each level, across 30 levels!

This game left me puzzled. It’s suffocating, yet devilishly clever. Maybe only for Chaplin fans?

If you like this sort of thing, I recommend trying Spacechem (PC, 2011), Infinifactory (PC, 2015), and Hardspace: Shipbreaker (2022).
Too recent for you? Then try Gumball (Apple II, 1983).
