Help Pierre the Chef catch runaway food with a butterfly net, then imprison it in a cage, all while avoiding the traps set by the notorious Black Chef…

Originally released on Super Nintendo (1993) under the full title Pierre le Chef is Out to Lunch, this charming platformer contains the usual menagerie of cute, squeaky critters, various bonuses … and of course, that dreaded time limit!

Its only flaw comes from comparison with Putty, released earlier and, in my opinion, superior in every way.

For once, the two-button controller seems to be supported (though not the second floppy drive). I encountered a strange bug: the controls stopped responding whenever I picked up a bonus marked with an “F” (the flour sacks). If this happens to you, in WinUAE, go to the “Game Ports” tab and select “Gamepad” instead of “Default”.

Out to Lunch is also available on CD32.
And in the same spirit: Pizza Tower (2023).
