A conversion of a Commodore 64 game (1988), loosely based on Tom Clancy’s novel (Cold War turning into World War III, from the American side). It’s a modern, realistic, and scripted submarine game, but rather austere. The technology used in the ’80s and ’90s (smart missiles, nuclear weapons, advanced sonars, countermeasure systems) gives it a slightly different vibe from something like Silent Service or the film Das Boot.
The difficulty level is highly customizable, but as you can imagine, even the “introductory” mode, aimed at beginners, has nothing in common with today’s tutorials. There are so many numbers, maps, and keyboard shortcuts that the company of the manual becomes absolutely essential.
