I’ve tried playing this game countless times and never managed to understand a single thing. You’ve heard of Van Helsing, the vampire hunter?
Well, that’s you—the old lunatic over there, pockets stuffed with garlic, armed with an assortment of mirrors, ready to face anything, as long as it has fangs (and big eyes, and big ears, and a nightgown).
Now you’re asking, “What am I supposed to do?” A fair question, and I’ll try to answer it…
First, you’ll need to venture deeper into the crypt (teeming with rats and creatures of questionable morality—some in nightgowns, others stark naked and rather seductive, assuming you’re not put off by their hair, styled like a “nest of snakes”).
Once inside, ideally, try staying alive. That’s the easy part—I managed that much.
Step two: find Dracula himself … and kill him. And there, despite afternoons spent in this hole, I’ve never stumbled upon even the faintest clue leading to the count. Supposedly, completing this quest requires the use of a ray of light. You know, that little flickering worm you foolishly let escape at the beginning? The one now floating 50 metres above you because a trapdoor opened beneath your clumsy feet…
In short, you were supposed to cleverly redirect this glowing thing (which flies and is already far too fast for you) by arranging mirrors to guide it to a place you’ll never find anyway.
Dracula’s at peace, I tell you!
