The adaptation of the game Hercules (Commodore 64, 1984).

Yolanda, daughter of Hercules and a princess by birth, has incurred the wrath of Hera, the goddess of death. Hera cast a spell that condemns to a violent end any man Yolanda seduces. To lift the curse, she must complete the twelve tasks her father once performed…

Ah, the young ones don’t realise how spoiled they are with today’s games.
Gone are the days of limited lives. You die and restart as many times as you want. You can save wherever and whenever you like. It’s also becoming increasingly rare to find a time limit.
So, even the “hard” modes of modern games are a bit of a joke compared to the games of yesteryear, where we banged our heads against walls for hours, days, months, years…

Now, imagine an “old-school” game made for the hardcore audience… That was the selling point of Yolanda: “the most punishing and difficult game ever created”. The best thing is to try it yourself to really understand.

This game doesn’t even fit into the category of frustrating torture games anymore, it’s a joke! The funniest part is knowing that people actually paid for it.
And not without a touch of malice, the developers included three difficulty levels…

Worth seeing, if only for the cultural experience!

Update:

Against all odds, this type of game has made a comeback in recent years, with I Wanna Be The Guy (PC, 2007), Super Meat Boy (2010), VVVVVV (2010), and Celeste (2018).
