Paris, 2052. We’re presented with a futuristic world entirely reliant on technology, in which—without much of an explanation—electricity suddenly vanishes.
This sparks a chain of disasters and an immediate descent into anarchy. With cities rendered uninhabitable, the few survivors flee to the countryside to build an agricultural society…

It’s amusing to see how Barjavel imagined the future back in the 1940s: no computers, flying cars driven by propellers, books equipped with loudspeakers, and people using microphones in vast offices, paid to read your books aloud…
