You’re a cop, and your job is to catch criminals by ramming into them, all sirens blaring. At the end of the mission, your chief will give you a hard time if you don’t meet your quotas. The various little skits and sound effects are hilarious! Shame that the high difficulty level and dodgy handling (it feels like steering a bar of soap) make it all get old pretty quickly. The Amiga version pales in comparison to the original…
A rib-tickling game best enjoyed on an arcade emulator (I advise reducing the joystick sensitivity in the options: press “Tab” key, “Analog Controls”, “Dial Sensitivity”).
Another APB was released in 2010, in 3D and multiplayer. Nothing to do with this one obviously, but I played it for a while and that’s why I became interested in its arcade namesake.
On an emulator, if the game seems too dark, adjust the contrast in the “Display” tab as shown here. Oh, wait. In the latest versions, they’ve added this!
