As the name suggests, this is the 1990 remake of the 1985 game Paradroid (Commodore 64), blending top-down shooting and exploration.
You control a sort of futuristic sphere inside a massive spaceship, traversing its corridors in search of mutinous androids. Your mission is to eliminate them. However, the title’s originality lies in your ability to hack these machines and take control of them. This provides you with greater protection and superior armament. These sequences (which take the form of a mini-game that I’m not even going to attempt to describe) remind me of a hilarious passage from Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, where Ford rewired a security robot’s pleasure circuits, rendering it immensely euphoric (and consequently cooperative)!
The spaceships contain an array of doors, lifts, and various terminals. The latter can be used to track enemies of a lower rank than yours (hence the value of hacking an officer).
The emulator, equipped with a save function, makes the game so much more accessible!
