What an excellent surprise this energetic little action game is, with its manga style. Beyond the Ice Palace as it should have been! It’s a pleasure to see something fast and responsive on the Amiga for once.

The constant respawning of enemies might not appeal to everyone, but a Mega Man fanatic like myself won’t hold it against the game. One also notices some original touches: coins dropped by monsters to collect so you can acquire new weapons, power-ups with harmful effects (inverted screen, teleportation back to the beginning of the level…).

On the other hand, the time limit, the oversight of forgetting a password system, the absence of a red robot dog fitted with a spring grafted onto its back … so many deplorable lapses in taste!

The Sega Genesis version, released the same year, features numerous changes that make the game somewhat easier. I prefer the Amiga version.

And on arcade, try Rygar (1986), Black Tiger (1987), and Magic Sword (1990).
