Every year, a new platformer featuring an endearing animal hits the shelves. Let’s recap: we’ve had a mouse, a dragon, a mole, a goldfish, a monkey, an elephant, a fox, an ant (well, a gremlin that looks like an ant), a coyote, another dragon, a chicken (not to be confused with its cousin, the kiwi), a duck, a skunk (I think?), a dog, a squirrel, a frog, a rabbit, and now the latest contender: Brian, a lion in Bermuda shorts!
(Not sure I’m ready to include the naked mole rat in the “endearing” category.)
Despite the glaring lack of originality, I find this game well made. It exudes a certain charm and shows variety. I’ve read reviews that claim the exact opposite, though. I suppose it’s all a matter of taste.
One thing everyone can agree on, however, is the presentation. Just look at those rotation and zoom effects—worthy of the SNES on its best days!
